Maximize your business potential with an 800 toll free phone number. Don't miss those valuable calls!

Could an 800 - toll-free number be the lucky number for your business?

Toll Free calling is rapidly becoming an essential weapon in the battle to get customers to beat their way to the door of your business. Once a toll free number was the exclusive domain of just the largest of companies, now it is commonplace and many organizations will have a whole host of 800 phone numbers - one for sales, another for customer services, another for accounts and so on.

However toll free calling might not be the ticket for everyone. If your trade is local then many customers are reassured by seeing their dialling code in front of your telephone number. A toll free one (eg an 800 number) could be anywhere in the country and this will undoubtedly put off some customers who just want to drop by your shop, store or business.

Where a toll free number really shines is where the geographical coverage is large. In those cases, it is a good idea to disguise the location of your business (if you do mail order or drop shipping it isn't relevant anyway). Why put a client off by making it obvious to them that they will have to dial long-distance when they can simply dial a toll free one? Before paying for a toll free exchange (and all the subsequent calls to it, of course), it is essential to identify whether it is for you.

Another key feature in the decision about investing in a toll free telephone network is based on whether you are a big organization which improves its call-handling efficiency by automated call systems (people don't mind the intrusion so much if you are paying for the call) or whether you are a sole trader who could benefit from having calls re-routed to a cell phone when you can't be in the office. In either of those two cases, an 800 number sounds ideal for you.

If your trade is largely online then a toll free facility where a potential customer can speak to a person will boost your sales immensely. You will find that many customers who call your business don't really have a question - they just want to know you exist.

You can find out more about getting an 800 number from your telephone company or a VOIP business. They can advise you about getting your company's customers calling you toll free.
