Private Tuition

Learn about the benefits of home tutors

Private Tuition is the most efficient and quickest way to assuredly learn a new subject. Private tutors are used to adjusting the pitch and pace of each lesson to aid the student to learn as rapidly and as thoroughly as they are capable of.

To get the maximum benefit from private tuition, the student needs to overcome any inherent shyness and make sure that their private tutors know exactly what needs to be covered and its urgency. Obviously experienced home tutors will insist on building on a solid foundation of knowledge and plan each lesson to complement its predecessor.

Fees for private tuition vary widely according to each individual tutor but expect to pay in the order of £20 per hour (about $40) plus a small allowance for the fuel costs associated with travelling (that is, of course, if you are considering booking home tutors).

If you explore this site, you will learn how to choose which private tutor is best for you and how to get the most out of each lesson. It is a good idea to read these page through thoroughly before actually commencing private tuition.

The great thing about tutoring is that there are virtually no age limits. As a private tuition agency, Anysubject spanned the age range of 3 to over 90. With each lesson geared entirely to the needs and ability of the individual student, there is no reason why anyone cannot benefit from this type of learning and there is no limit to the subject and level which can be tutored.

The most expensive option is choosing to have home tutors but the advantages are clear - no travel for the student, more convenient, less time expenditure, increased feeling of security etc. Most private tutors do not look to make a profit out of their travel costs - it is usually just a case of recouping their expenditure eg fuel, bus tickets etc. A very busy tutor might well only charge one way (if they have other students in the same area on the same night).

It is possible to make a marked saving on the cost of your private tuition by sharing a lesson with a friend. This works if you are both at the same level and have broadly the same needs although you should expect the tutor to charge a bit extra for the increase in numbers. For example:

  • 1 Student = 100% of the individual student rate

  • 2 Students = 75% each of the individual student rate

  • 3 Students = 60% each of the individual student rate

  • 4 Students = 50% each of the individual student rate

More than 4 students and the groups size would remove the advantages of private tuition and just turn the lessons into a group class.

Ultimately choosing home visits or going to a tutor, what you cover and when you learn it is all your choice which is exactly what makes up private tuition.
