Fed up with
being marginalized? Don't see why you should wear shapeless, dark, sack-like
clothing - you need a good plus-size clothing supplier.
Finding standard-sized clothing a tight squeeze - not
with plus-sized clothing.
Plus-size clothing - do you struggle to find
quality clothes too?
Many manufacturers ignore this end of the
market - plus-size is almost seen as something not to be associated with.
Have you ever walked into a shop and rather
ashamedly asked, "Have you got anything in my size?" only to be met by a
thinly-choked giggle from an acne-ridden youth whose IQ would struggle to
challenge double figures.
Plus-size clothing can be required for all
sorts of reasons - it is not simply the result of lack of dietary control as
those who don't need it would have you believe. Injuries, medical problems,
pregnancy, physical and mental abuse can all affect our size and shape. We are
what we are and if we need plus-size clothing, we need plus-size clothing.
Remember the old joke about the man who goes
into the Plus-Size store and asks if they have an XXXXL see-through negligee?
The salesman responds, "Certainly sir, but why would you want to see through
that?". Well, maybe all of us don't want to look at or like stick insects.
Failing to look like a catwalk model should not be a criminal offence - if you
need plus-size clothing, buy it and wear it proudly.
In the past, plus-size clothing has meant
shapeless 'rent-a-tent' garments in dreary gray, black or blue. Nowadays, there
is a trend to much brighter plus-size clothing which mirrors 'normal' clothes.
It's time we learned that all clothing is normal - just that some need more of
it than others.
Unfortunately, because of the lack of High
Street provision for Plus-Size clothing, many have to turn to mail order and the
internet. While there are many excellent suppliers out there, watch out for the
rogues too. Sometimes plus-size clothing supplied this way can be substandard -
poorly-stitched and not of much substance. Check out the returns policy, buy a
single plus-size item to start with (OK, it will cost a lot in delivery but
better that than a box-full of soon-to-be rags). Pay by credit card as this
gives you protection if the service turns out not to be up to expectation.
It is not unreasonable to expect to pay a
little more for plus-sized clothes - more material is being used to make
plus-sized clothing after all - but watch out for those who double or even
triple the price to take advantage of what they perceive as a minority group
with no voice. Watch the delivery charges too as that is a crafty way of bumping
up the prices of plus-size clothing without it being too obvious.
If you find a good plus-size clothing supplier
- someone who can offer you a wide range of quality plus-size clothing at
reasonable prices pass the word round. Put up a good word for them on a
Plus-Sized forum. Better still, tell any new supplier (in advance) that is what
you are going to be doing - see what a difference it can make when they feel
eyes are on them!
Be plus-sized and be proud.
