Rates of pay for tutors
How much do I get paid for my tuition?
The rates of pay are set by yourself and should depend upon the level you are tutoring. The following are suggested fees for the year 2009
- 2010.
If you want to be busy as a tutor, you should broadly adhere to these.

Kindergarten, Elementary, First to Tenth Grade, Adult foreign language beginners, Adult Literacy and Numeracy, English as a Foreign Language (EFL) beginners |
US$20 - US$30 |
BAND 2
Senior High School, Eleventh and Twelfth Grades K12, SAT's, ACT, Achievement Tests, Adult Intermediate and Advanced Learners, EFL advanced |
US$25 - US$40 |
BAND 3
Sophomore, Freshman, University, Professional |
US$35 - US$50 |
BAND 4
Music, all instruments and grades |
US$35 - US$50 |
The foregoing is for one-to-one tuition. Where more than one student is present at the same time, it is appropriate to charge an additional
US$4 to US$10 per hour per student.
If you go to the client, it is reasonable that you should charge an additional
US$3 to US$10 depending upon distance. This additional fee should cover the time taken to travel to the client so that they still get the full lesson time.
When do I get paid?
You should ask the client to pay you at the end of each lesson. We do not require you to send us any fees although we do appreciate you recommending our service to your contacts!
