More teachers are needed to help teach the many students who access this site. You will be paid at the end of every lesson and rates of pay for our teachers normally run to over £20 per hour. Teachers are also paid a travel fee on top of that should they be asked to do call-out (about ⅔ of clients ask for teachers to do home visits) - typically £3 to £4 extra paid to teachers for attending within a 5-mile radius.

Teachers generally find this work highly enjoyable as their efforts are directly appreciated by both clients and students and attention and disciplinary problems as experienced when teaching in schools are almost unheard of.

If you prefer to join an agency, then there are many good and bad ones out there. To help you sort them, we have compiled a simple checklist which shows the way a responsible agency would behave in direct comparison to an irresponsible one.

If tuition is really not for you, then you are probably looking for a full-time teaching position or supply work.

Won't give out the phone number of their teachers but will give teachers the client's details so teachers have no danger of getting unwanted calls from troublemakers.	Give out teachers' names and numbers to anyone who asks - usually on a list.
By giving teachers the client's information, this allows teachers to decline students from their school or class for professional reasons.	Anyone and everyone can call you and know your business. The next time the phone rings it could be someone from your own class!
Quote fixed prices to clients and promise teachers fixed rates of pay so teachers have no awkward negotiating to do.	Promise teachers one thing and the client another and leave the two of you to sort out the mess.
Make clients enter a contract with them before they call the teachers so the latter's time is not wasted.	Give you leads - typical 'take up' rate quoted at 5% by those who have done it.
Supply proper paperwork which has been approved by the Inland Revenue so teachers need have no fear of official 'complications'	What paperwork?
Issue statements each month as part of the service so that teachers can easily keep track of their earnings for the end of year tax return.	Some issue teachers with a form which they fill in and do all the calculations on - some don't even do that.

... and on top of all this .... there should be no fee to join a responsible agency.
