Wasp subduing a butterfly

Wasp subduing a butterfly

Fig flies and walnut worms – just a fact of life at the moment.

But I wasn’t prepared for wasp wickedness.

A butterfly I’d rescued from the pool and left to recover was within seconds attacked by a wasp.

It opened its wings right out and paralysed it with its sting.

Nature, of course, but there was a particular pathos in the pace of this predation.
